MONOTYPE PRINTING TECHNIQUE

In the ‘Mother and Child’ series, I combined monotype-printing with charcoal, acrylics and oil pastels. Monotype printing enables the repetition and rework of the same motive several times. Through I wanted to create an icon, a symbol, depicting a child shielded and protected by a Madonna-like-mother. Women and girls were organising life in the refugee camps from scratch: the main aim was to provide basic education, cultural entertainment, but most importantly feed hundreds of children and families that survived ‘evacuation’ from the USSR.
