MIXED MEDIA – JOURNEY DIARY

The archival documents were a great help in visualising fragments of faded memories.

Drawing and painting in the refugee camps – this for me constitutes another meaningful layer of the project. Art was used perhaps, whether more or less consciously, as form of therapy, enabling self-expression and adding significance to everyday struggle.

Girls and young women kept their scrap books and diaries of friendships during their exile when it was only possible, and this was very rich source of inspiration and information. What strikes me is that even in exceedingly difficult conditions they were able to look for consolation in friendship and beauty of nature.
