MARBLED PAPER

Marbled paper is one of my favourite coloured backgrounds I have used often since Art Academy times. I have decided to use it in this series after one of our characters pointed out in the interview that books were always particularly important to her, that they kept her alive. I was looking for right attributes for my paintings, various things came to mind as immediate associations with story of journey, war time, refugees… train tracks, blankets, suitcase, almost fairy tale angels and Madonnas seeing through children’s eyes. In this case a book symbol of normality is represented by marbled paper.
