COLLAGE

For the collage I utilised scraps of old English newspapers from the 30s and 40s. Ephemeral, monochromatic charcoal drawing, applied as a top layer to the collage, defines the distant memory of a dramatic journey. Charcoal lines help to visualise columns of walking refugees, appearing from the chaos of seemingly scattered paper cuttings. Collage is the technique that refers most directly to the archival aspect of the Forgotten Force project.
