Deported from Chylin in Wołyń to Arkhangelsk Oblast. Worked with her family in tree logging. After the amnesty they travelled by self-built rafts to Kotlas. Ended up in Guzar and the Valley of Death where Maria lost part of her family. Later evacuated through the Middle East, Maria was eventually sent to India. Maria reunited with her sister, who served in Anders’ Army, in 1948 when she settled in the UK.
